Growing up around a large construction company gave me the ability to see and experience all aspects of the construction process.  This give PHD Construction the knowledge to not only understand the job at hand, but also know all the steps the surround the job.  As the owner and builder, I pride myself in keeping PHD Construction small enough to give a one-on-one experience, and also manage time and budget.
In my later teens, my first complete home construction started  from a blank piece of land, I took many years to create a 1780's reproduction cape style home.
Because of the detail and authenticity, it because highly talked about home.  (It sold, on the first day, for the full asking price).  New Hampshire gave me many opportunities to expand my knowledge with many beautiful homes.  The Marriott compound and Governor Romney vacation home are just a couple, but one of the  Meredith summer homes was one of the most memorable.  The level of detail in this home unsurpassed most homes in the area.  With quality being a bigger factor than money, I learned to take the time to do a job right verses just getting it done.  In saying that, I still try to understand the client, so I can work within there budget.

Some of the custom woodwork in the Meredith library, are hidden rooms behind the paneled walls.  One of the bookcases opened up on a custom made hinge made from truck bearing.  The wine cellar ceiling was made to look like the bottom of a old row boat.  I was also asked to design and make blacksmith door hardware and a self closing  door with pulley and weights.

From this house, I now have more goals then just finishing a job and getting payed.  I want to communicate with the client, understand what level of detail is needed.  At the end of the day I want to make both the client and myself happy with the results.  I also try hard to keep it within the budget and time frame.

Colorado has given me the opportunity to continue my tradition woodworking, metalworking, and stoneworking, but I have expanded into more modern design.
