Art - Boulder Woodworking | PHD Construction

Art  in wood, metal or stone is just a way of showing it’s inner beauty.  Sometimes there will be a function, and other times it will merely be a way of showing of grain, texture and life within. In 2006 I received the First Place Award at the Boulder CO art fair on Pearl Street.  In 2008 Classic Country Life Magazine featured an article on me and my work.  I work with woods from all over the world, and I can produce a one-of-a-kind piece that will fit your needs.

A few of the places you can find some of my work is the Boulder Art Coop. on Pearl St. in Boulder Colorado and the pARTticulars in Lafayette Colorado on Public Rd.

ART AS INVESTMENT

Collecting fine art used to be a luxury reserved for the extraordinary rich and well connected.  Today, however, collecting art is a investment strategy that, with a little interest and research, can prove to be both enjoyable and lucrative.  Not long ago, an article in Forbe’s reported that, over a number of different periods, art outperformed the S&P 500.  Even in the months following Sep 11th amid recession and war, art auction houses saw new sales records.  A study by New York University, which examined twenty seven recessions and four wars, concluded that art values tend to hold up well during periods of economic difficulty, and art indexes always outperform major stock indexes during war times.

Peter Scott S. Sahiman, head of Sahiman Fine Art Consulting, has advocated that art be recognized for its potential as a balancing or stabilizing asset, in addition to its ability to provide aesthetic pleasure.  Sahiman states “Buying fine art can balance one’s securities, real estate, bond and hedge fund holdings.  When fine art is purchased by a shrewd buyer, it can stabilize  the volatility of one’s entire portfolio, position and art collection for upset appreciation.”
